I used the grey thorlo hiking socks for years for hunting and hiking. I was talking to a very knowledgeable thorlo saies rep one day at an outlet store and she suggested I try the crew basketball socks for padding and comfort. I love em. Not really "insulated" for very cold days but really comfortable for long days afield.You can't do any better than Thorlo socks. I have been buying Thorlo's for a very long time, and could not be any more pleased, these socks absorb compression sooo much better than any other socks out there. Tried Gold Toe, Wolverine, Dickie's, and a bunch of cheap bags of socks. You see, I am an electrician, and constantly on my feet, so the need for socks and boots are extremely high priority, Thorlo offers the best padding, and support for the money, and they better for the price you pay! The basketball crew has the best fit for me, with the super padded heel, it really takes away fatigue at the end of the day. I know your probably thinking, yeah right, from a sock? All I can say is, that it works for me! These socks generally last me about a year, give or take,which to me is exceptional compared with others, and I buy seven pair all at the same time, so as to keep even wear on them.I play about two hours of hard, full-court basketball one night per week. The floor itself is made of some kind of tile, and it's unforgiving. My feet always used to hurt terribly after games--and usually stayed hurting for a couple of days--so I decided to give these socks a try. I've been using them for close to two months now, and my feet feel much better. In fact, during the course of a game I don't even pay attention to the way my feet feel. The extra padding also makes my shoe fit more snugly, so my toes don't get jammed as much and I'm not getting aggravated/ingrown toenails anymore, either.I wonder how long these songs will last, though I suppose if you air-dry them as instructed they'll hold up longer.In the end, the socks are worth the money. I can feel a difference, so if your feet hurt from all of the pounding, perhaps these socks will be a solution. I found that they are more effective than a slip-in insole that I purchased as well.After going through dozens of socks and ending up with holes in the toes and/or around the soles I bought a single pair of these for my boyfriend. He loved the way they felt as soon as he put them on. He said they're just as comfortable when he wears sneakers as when he's wearing his work boots. These socks seem to only become plusher after each wash. It has officially been 7 wears and 7 washes and the socks still look and feel brand new! Not a single thread is out of place! He has done some serious damage to socks in shorter periods of time. These socks are WELL worth every penny! I'm buying 4 more sets today so that he can have a pair every day for work!UPDATE: Almost a year later and these socks are still like new. We've easily saved a few hundred dollars over the past year not having to replace his work socks.These are my dads go to socks. They are very comfortable and last a very ling time. Will continue to buy when needed.I have many pairs of Thorlo socks, including Experia, Walking, Safety Boot, and Running socks, and these are by far the thickest. When they say they designed these for the impacts of Basketball they weren't kidding. Be absolutely sure that there is space in your current shoes for these (or better yet, take Thorlo's own advice and wear these when buying a new pair of shoes).If you're looking for thick Thorlo's you came to the right spot, but if you came here because you were looking for a basketball sock and you don't know about Thorlo, stop what you're doing and buy 2 pairs of these immediately, you won't be dissapointed!I have worn Thorlos for 20 years. They hold up so well often lasting 5-10 years. I bought these for my son and he loves themI got these because i would always get blisters when playing basketball even when i used my nike elite socks. So far it seems to work because after using them i didnt get any blisters. just be careful if you have tight fitting basketball shoes because these socks are kinda thickVery good
